    TECHNICAL EXCURSIONS 8 JULY

    On Wednesday afternoon there will be two organized short technical excursi ons to the local targets focused on bio mass fired power generation, district heating systems, improvement of power quality in power systems and process automation system manufacturing. The tours are arranged parallel and they start at 12.40 and ends 17.00. Free of charge for participants.

    THURSDAY 9 JULY A WHOLE DAY POST TOUR TO OLKILUOTO NUCLEAR PLANT AND TO OLD RAUMA

    On Thursday 9 July there will be a post conference excursion to the construction site of the first 3rd generation EPR nuclear plant in the world and to Rauma. The site is located in Eurajoki, Olkiluoto, 120 km west from Tampere.

    Rauma, founded in 1442, is an idyllic seaside town steeped in culture. Rauma provides a spacious and safe living environment to its 37,000 inhabitants with good public services and high-quality education, cultural and leisure services. The town is a dream come true, for shoppers and gourmets. Especially during the summer months, the marketplace is a popular meeting place. The heart of the town is the Old Rauma, which is the largest preserved coherent medieval wooden town area in the Nordic region. In 1991 the area was selected for UNESCO's World Heritage Sites.

    The bus departs at 9.00 and returns at 19.00. The tour includes bus transfers, a guided walking tour in the Old Rauma, lunch in the Villa Tallbo restaurant, excursion to the construction site of the first 3rd generation EPR nuclear plant. At  the construction site there will be a presentation in the visitor center. Bus sightseeing tour around the construction site if possible.The visitor are required the following info for Group Visit Application: nationality, passport number, date of birth dd.mm.yyyy, surname, first name, domicile, place of birth and the name of employer.

    Price: 50 EUR incl. VAT 22%.

    SOCIAL PROGRAMME 

    Monday 6 July all delegates and accompanying persons are welcomed to attend the symposium get-together party hosted by the City of Tampere in the refurbished factory Museum Centre Vapriikki .

    Tuesday 7 July A boat trip to the Island of Viikinsaari will offer beautiful lake scenery to Finnish light summer evening to be remembered. Symposium dinner will be served on the island.


    NEW! ORGANIZED LUNCH TO ACCOMPANYING PERSONS

    On Monday 6th July there is organized lunch for accompanying persons in idyllic factory area of Finlayson, which is walking distance from Tampere Hall. On the area you will find museums, shops, cafeterias, restaurants, church etc. This is a place worth visiting. The lunch is served at 13.00 in the GRILL restaurant.     PRE AND POST TOURS ON YOUR OWN
    On your own you can explore the City of Tampere by sightseeing tours which are operated on daily basis. Finnish art and design, industrial heritage and architecture are worth seeing. In Tampere you can visit numerous museums among the Moominvalley Collection of the Tampere Art Museum. Tampere is a compact city and almost everything can be seen by walking.

     

    Pre or post tours will be arranged around Finland and neighboring countries on individual basis. In Finland tours to Helsinki Capital City, the Lake Land area, the Moominworld Naantali or the Arctic Circle Lapland are good alternatives. Cruises to Stockholm, Medieval Tallinn and Imperial St. Petersburg are within easy reach as well.
